The baby was due to be born on 23 June 2010. Mild contractions started in the morning after the weekly check-up. The doctor said that the baby was not ready to be born yet.
By noon, the contractions were felt about every 10 minutes. Aunt was summoned to counter check if it is really contractions. This can't be! We still have a week to go. The mother is not ready. She still need to attend a full-moon party, a father's day dinner and taking the two older children to watch Toy Story 3.
After much confirmation from aunt that it were indeed contractions, the mother immediately set to hand over her office works to her colleagues before going home, after office hours, to take a quick shower and dinner. All these were done amidst shorter and more painful contractions.
Uncle helped to drive mother to hospital to check if indeed the baby was really ready to be borne. Mother was checked into hospital while uncle went home to have his dinner. After dinner, uncle called the hospital to check the mother's status and was in total shocked to hear that the baby was borne within two hours of reaching the hospital! Are you sure? Is it the same mother and baby that we were talking about?
Indeed, the baby is too anxious to meet most of our relatives this weekend. Somehow he knows that everyone will be here for the full-moon party. So, he took the opportunity to present himself as well! Clever you.
I pray to God that I may also have such express delivery. May you grow up to be a healthy boy!

ReplyDeleteThe hospital staff was very busy when the mother arrived at the labour ward. Everyone was rushing to the changing room to attend to a lady. Her baby was coming out before she finished changing.
The mother with contraction was asked to wait while the nurses and doctors attending to the lady in the changing room. After 5 min, the mother was asked to change before she was sent to one of the labour room. She has prayed for a painless and quick delivery. A lady in white coat asked the mother a lot of questions before a foreign student and a doctor came in to examine her. Her cervix was 6cm dilated. The foreign student burst the water bag. Lack of faith, the mother requested for a pain killer jab. The doctor said ok but the jab did not come. As the contraction is getting more frequent and more pain, the mother requested for the jab again.
The doctor checked and found that cervix was 8cm dilated. That was 830pm, 1 and half hour after reaching the hospital. One of the nurses advised the mother not to push until the cervix was 10cm dilated. The mother was given a jab before she was left alone in the room. Then, she was given the laughing gas too. Less than 5 minutes, the mother rang the bell as the pain was unbearable and the mother no longer can hold the baby. He was coming out.
The nurses and doctors came in and the mother asked, “Can I push now?” There was no answer. Don’t bother to wait for an answer, the mother started to push. The mother was instructed to push slowly to prevent tear. The baby came out during the second attempt of pushing, before the pain killer started to work. That was 854pm.
The best part was there was no tearing. Bravo!
